Risk and Benefit
It is no coincidence that almost all of the world’s developed countries have human rights protection laws, and there is a certain relationship between development and human rights. However, that relationship only functions well upon a narrow wealth gap and a fairly educated population. If a country adopts human rights protection law without these criteria, like Mexico and India, developments will be strenuous because human rights protection laws are often being exploited by wealthy people, whether intentional or not. India and Mexico’s governments both realize the problems, and they have created many policies to improve the education standard and narrow down the wealth gap. Stepping into 2019, we become more and more aware of human rights, and countries are slowly adopting human rights protection laws. As the world is going towards this trend, it is pivotal for us to know its benefits, but also not forget the dangers and risks involved.
